My name is Bansari Mehta and I am the chief operating officer at Dr. Black’s Eye Associates in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
I have a couple things that I fall back on in moments of high pressure and stress. First, I have learned to recognize when I'm in a demanding situation. So, if I label it then I know I can deal with it better instead of mismanaging myself. After that, I pause.
I keep a couple coping mechanisms handy that might change throughout the year. For example, right now I have a curated playlist that I listen to. I will also pepper in some breathing techniques to help me center and focus myself while listening to this playlist.
Over the years, I have also learned to use social media as a positive escape for me. For example, on one of my platforms I have a specially curated feed where I am strictly following pages that inspire or discuss places that I want to travel to, foods that I might want to eat and create, skills that I might want to learn. So, it's like my little escape when I need it in my spare time and I update my feed as needed as well. Approaching in this manner, I know that I'm feeding my brain the right things. If I can't escape social media the thought is I might as well use it as a tool for the betterment of my mental health as much as I can help it.
Also, it's taken me a long time to realize that breaks and rest are necessary and going 100 mph every hour is not sustainable. So, the ability to say no to things in my personal life is very freeing and helps me reclaim time for myself. OP
