Thanks for your feedback
Bruce Maller, Co-Editor
We love to receive feedback at OP. The more we receive and the more diverse its sources, the better we are able to adapt and maintain the relevance of the publication.
In our inaugural “Viewpoint” in August 2012 — wow, has it really been four years? — my co-editor Jane Shuman and I asked our readers to get involved:
“Via Ophthalmic Professional, we hope to bring clarity to the complex issues facing eye care professionals and provide a road map that allows you to navigate current and future challenges . . . We welcome feedback on topics you feel will help improve the operations of your practice. We look forward to you being ‘active readers.’”
I want to thank you for rising to the occasion. The recent release of OP’s annual readership survey proves once again that you are more than willing to be active participants in your professional lives. Striving to get better — to do better — is a team effort, and your participation is crucial.
Tailoring content to your professional needs
Here are examples of survey information we see as meaningful and intend to use to better tailor OP to meet your needs:
• You’re focused: 78% of your practice time is spent in the areas of general/cataract/retina ophthalmology
• You’re experienced: 79% of you have more than 10 years of experience in ophthalmology
• You’re clinical: 64% of you hold clinical-focused positions
• You are interested in new technology and pharmaceuticals
• You are interested in how other practices work; reading about different ways of doing things
• You are open to change and innovation
You also had positive things to say about the editorial board, the all-star team of writers and editors, and the talented designers who regularly bring important copy to your fingertips in an eye-pleasing way. I can honestly say that every member of the OP team is humbled by your kind words.
What Jane and I said way back in Issue No. 1 — our mission is to provide timely, relevant, and practical business and clinical resources to make your job easier — still rings true. From the looks of your recent feedback, it appears we are meeting that mission. Thank you for taking the time to let us know how we are doing. Please, keep that feedback coming.
By the way, what do you think of this issue? OP
