■ The new ECHO Windows and iPad Apps complement existing ECHO software by providing a way to download and play content even without an Internet connection. In an effort to cut down on streaming delays, the new functionality allows previously downloaded presentations to be viewed on any media, including a PC, iPad, or waiting room television. The apps feature on-screen drawing functionality and split-screen views for the exam room. Other features include integration with social media platforms and a reporting feature allowing users to monitor patients’ viewing habits in an effort to better understand the success of individual presentations.

■ A new test, designed for the evaluation of AMD and other retinal disease patients, uses letter size to evaluate stabilization of improvement of retinal conditions. Evans Letter Contrast Test (ELCT) is used in conjunction with the VectorVision and Goodlite ESV-3000, an LED-based, auto-calibrated back lighting system designed to ensure uniform and consistent lighting for testing.

Optovue iFusion

■ The new iFusion system combines spectral-domain OCT and digital fundus photography in one platform. The combination is an effort to make the clinical evaluation more comprehensive and to streamline the process. The modular pairing combines the iVue SD-OCT with the new iCam non-mydriatic fundus camera on a single platform. Additionally, the iFusion provides the latest in OCT and fundus imaging to through various upgrade pathways. The iFusion system received FDA 510(k) clearance in late July.
