Viewpoint from the Co-Editor
In with the Old and the New
We recognize the value of ongoing lessons and new ideas.
Jane Shuman, Co-Editor-in-Chief
At office staff meetings, it seems, we sometimes find ourselves repeating information shared at our last meeting. Other times, we expand upon previous topics. This happens, for example, when we run out of time during initial discussions or when additional suggestions are made to improve processes.
Preparing this issue of Ophthalmic Professional, I am reminded of these meetings. Several of our articles are continuations from the last issue. Andrew Maller and David Richardson, MD, continue their coverage of dashboard reporting and glaucoma medications, respectively. However, we’re moving on to new areas with a diverse offering of clinical and patient-focused topics.
Recognize Your Team With Our Cover
Also new this month, we’re introducing a contest that will focus on your teams. Today’s dynamic healthcare environment requires collaboration of all staff to provide patients with the highest levels of care. Allied health teams work so hard and, sometimes, get creative to achieve this goal. If this sounds like your practice, Ophthalmic Professional would like to recognize you with coverage of your team in an upcoming issue. The coverage will include a cover photo of select members of your team along with a feature article detailing your staff ’s accomplishments. Sound interesting? Here are the details:
Send us an email of no more than 250 words describing why your practice should appear on the cover of OP. Consider areas where the team has demonstrated success, such as:
• Patient care• Patient education/marketing
• Productivity improvements
• Practice management
• Customer service
• Staff accomplishments (awards, certification and education)
• Teamwork
• Volunteerism (community outreach, missions, etc.)
Please send your entries to james.thomas@springer.com no later than May 15, 2013. We are looking forward to seeing some of you on our future covers. OP
